Hi there! My name is Tyler.
I live in Washington, USA, nearby Seattle and a whole like of hiking locations.
Here’s a quick list of my history:
- Healthcare
- Servers & Hosting
- Software Development
- Fitness
- Bicycling
- Hiking
- Camping
- Outdoor activities
Healthcare
I have worked as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and as a PTA (Physical Therapist Assistant) and was in the healthcare field for about 6 years. I treated thousands of patients during that time and helped them regain their strength and independence.
I have helped patients across many different ailments they have struggled with:
- Amputations
- Strokes
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Falls
- Generalized weakness
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Alzheimer’s
I’m hugely fortunate to have helped and advised patients through so many extraordinary circumstances.
But, the truth is Physical Therapy isn’t about directly making people stronger. My greatest contribution has been to sit with patients and remind them of how strong they are and to show them what they can accomplish.
For all of those who I have worked with, know that you are the reason for your success ❤️
Tech
I have been hosting services and handling servers for over 10 years. I deal with Linux servers and primarily specialize in the Debian family of OS’s (Operating System). I now run a Docker Swarm with 5 nodes with over 36 services, providing for over 10,000 viewers daily.
Much of my time spent here has been on what has interested me, dogfooding services that interest me, discovering the best way to host things and discussing this on forums.
More recently, I have stepped into development, building with Python, Typescript (React / Next.js / Astro) and Go. Something you can see on the home page or on my GitHub.
Many of the projects I have built have been about solving some problem I had. I’ve built a CRUD client side app to handle a free API only service, or built a CLI app to interact with a LLM (Large Language Model (AI)) service.
I like the terminal and find it quicker and easier to solve most of my problems through a command line when I can. I can type reasonably fast and have many little functions and programs I’ve written to help me along.
Fitness
Bicycling is my #1 favorite, and I have been riding my entire life with some gaps. I’ve never had the chance to do much besides road biking, but I am planning to change that soon ⛰️
I also like to hike, even though sometimes I’m mostly interested in my backpack than the actual hiking itself 😅 But I do greatly enjoy the view and simply being in those locations.
I’m currently in recovery after an extended sedentary period of my life, and I am building my strength and cardiovascular endurance back up.
Because of this, you might find a blend of Physical Therapy, Tech and Fitness blended into the posts and content I have on this site 😊
Conclusion
Thanks for reading! There’s a lot more to see on the left hand side (unless I’ve changed it and forgotten).
This site is a work in progress as I work on different areas of it. The structure is loosely guided by what I find interesting
and is useful to me. Perhaps it will be useful to you as well.
